Beginning of construction of the hydrographic vessel for Dunkirk Harbour

16 september 2021

New season 2021, Merré shipyard has begun the production of the new hydrographic vessel, called “Albatros”, for the Grand Port Maritime of Dunkirk. The first aluminium plate cutting took place end of August with the deck plate in order to start building the hull upside down in the Merré workshop in Nort-sur-Erdre.

As a reminder, Merre shipyard was awarded in March 2021 for the design, construction, and delivery of one new hydrographic vessel for Dunkirk Port which will replace their current boat.
It is a 15m long vessel, fully made in aluminium, for bathymetry missions on channels and coasts of Dunkirk Port

After completion of studies, in collaboration with Frederic Neuman design office, the construction was launched.

The delivery of Albatros is planned for beginning of 2022.
