Hydrographic ship for Dunkirk harbour successfully launched at Merre shipyard

8 avril 2022

The Merré shipyard has successfully launched its future hydrographic ship for Dunkirk’s port.

This launching allowed  to check the watertightness  of the hull, ship's stability. Main installations were then started and checked. The first start-up of the engines also successfully took place.

Sea-trials will take place in the following weeks. The vessel will then be shipped to her final destination by road where she will be delivered by end of april.

This 15m all-aluminum boat is powered by two Nanni engines of 130kW each. It will be used to carry out bottom readings in the port of Dunkirk. It is equipped with a rail-mounted multibeam sounder and a single-beam sounder for bathymetry analysis, as well as a gantry for sediment sampling.

This ship was designed by Frédéric Neuman, and was entirely built and industrialized at the Merré shipyard in Nort-sur-Erdre.
