The MERRE shipyard will design and build the new boat for the French Office for Biodiversity and its Martinique Marine Natural Park

At the end of September, the MERRE shipyard won the tender for the construction of a 12m speedboat for the Martinique Marine Natural Park. Designed in close collaboration with our partner the architectural firm NEUMAN, this surveillance boat is intended for:

- Observation work

- Scientific work concerning natural and cultural heritage, water quality (physicochemical and biological parameters, waste, etc.), oceanography (bathymetry, sedimentology, etc.), maritime visits and activities, etc.

- General surveillance and police (day and night)

- Diving support

Other missions will also be carried out but on a less regular basis such as accompanying nautical events, accompanying people, naturalistic observations, etc.

Equipped with two 300HP Mercury engines, it will reach the speed of 30knots. It is also equipped with a dynamic positioning system and solar panels to ensure a certain energy autonomy.

BMA's naval hub, through its two shipyards MERRE and CIB, has already built 3 boats of the same type for the French Office for Biodiversity and the Marine Natural Parks of Iroise (AUGUSTINE & VALBELLE boats) and Mayotte (UTUNDA boat). The boat destined for Martinique will integrate the feedback of these 3 ships as well as the new technologies that have appeared since.

The construction will be carried out on the site of the CIB site in Brest and will use all the skills of the BMA group by relying on MERRE for the industrialization and cutting of sheet metal and FORMINOX for the realization of specific sub-assemblies and piping.
